Mercury Crosses 40 Degree Celsius In these Places Of Odisha
Heat wave condition remained persistent in Odisha. Summer is becoming harsher particularly in the western region, with the temperature soaring above 40 degree Celsius at about 11 places this week. Coastal and interior areas of the state also reeled under unbearable weather conditions due to rising temperature coupled with a high level of relative humidity.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Hirakud in western Odisha turned out to be the hottest place in the state recording 44.8 degree Celsius followed by 44.6 degrees in neighboring Sambalpur.
According to the center, the mercury touched 43.6 degree Celsius in Titlagarh, 41.1 degrees in Angul, while it was 43.2 degree in Jharsuguda, 42.5 degrees in Bolangir, 41.8 degrees in Sonepur, 40.5 degrees in Talcher, 40.4 degrees in Phulbani, 40.2 degrees in Bhawanipatna and 40 degrees in Sundargarh.
The state capital Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 37.8 degree Celsius with a relative humidity of 82 percent, it said.
In the millennium city of Cuttack, the maximum temperature stood at 37.4 degree Celsius. The MeT center here has forecast heatwave conditions to prevail in many parts of the state for at least the next three days.
