Is Nuakhai a holiday in Odisha?
Ans – Yes. It’s a Government Holiday. The festival is widely celebrated in Odisha

Ans- Nuakhai is observed to welcome the new rice of the season. According to the calendar it is observed on panchami tithi (the fifth day) of the lunar fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada or Bhadraba (August-September), the day after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

Nuakhai is one of the unique social festivals which gets its name from the word ‘nua’ meaning ‘new’ and ‘khai’ meaning ‘food’. This traditional festival has a great significance for farmers and the agricultural community as it is performed to welcome the season’s newly harvested rice.
