Special wards for unidentified patients at SCB Medical Cuttack in week
The hospital authorities have now decided to open special wards for unidentified patients at the hospital within a week. The decision was taken the day after a destitute patient died on premises of the SCB Medical College and Hospital here after being unattended.
According to the news in a daily news portal, the wards will be opened in five departments, including surgery, orthopaedic surgery, medicine, obstetrics and paediatrics. In a recent incident, an elderly man died without treatment under a tree in front of the new medicine ward of SCB Medical. Reportedly, he was unattended and lying under the tree for two days. In the month of August, the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) had recommended the State Government to open a special destitute ward at SCB to provide better healthcare services to the needy.
