Special courts to deal with Honour Killing cases in Odisha

The Government of Odisha has specified two special courts for trial of criminal cases related to Honour Killing and violence to couples in the state.
In an official notification of the Home Department, courts of Second Additional District & Sessions Judge, Berhampur and SDJM, Nabarangpur have been specified as special courts to deal with cases of Honour Killing and violence to couples, respectively, arising out of their respective jurisdiction.
In the month of August, the state government had announced that trial of honour killing cases will be undertaken by a designated or a fast track court on a day to day basis and concluded within six months from the date of taking cognisance of the offence.
