Nagarjuna Besa is one of the 16 incarnations of Lord Jagannath – The God of the Universe.This adornment is occasionally done in the month of Kartika (Oct-Nov) and only on those years when there are six days of “Panchuka”.The lords are dressed like warriors. This vesha honors Parasurama, the warrior incarnation.This incarnation of Lord was done only six times in the last 30 years, i.e on 11/3/95, 11/16/94, 11/26/93, 11/3/68, 11/16/67 and 11/26/66.In the recent past, this vesha has been done on 16.11.1994. The previous four dates were 26.11.1993, 3.11.1968, 16.11.1967 and 26.11.1966.

About Lord Jagannath “The God of the Universe” :

ord Jagannath, the symbol of universal love and brotherhood is worshipped in the ‘Shree Jagannath Temple’ along with Balabhadra, Subhadra, Sudarshan, Madhaba, Sridevi and Bhudevi on the RATNAVEDI (the bejewelled platform). Lord Balabhadra is the elder brother, Lord Jagannath is younger brother and Devi Subhadra is youngest sister.

The Deities of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra and Chakra Sudarshan are made of margosa wood.
