Minor Odia boy to receive National Bravery Award from PM Modi
Situ, a minor Boy from Kendrapara will receive Award from The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. He is selected for national bravery award instituted by Indian Council for Child Welfare. Situ Malik, who is now studying in 10th standard saved his 26 years old paternal uncle Binod Malik from crocodile attack on 20 February. He is now a student of Basudebpur Vidyapitha high School in Kandira Village under Rajnagar tehsil.
He will receive the award from PM Modi on 23 January 2019. The ICCW’s letter on the matter has been received by the district administration, said Kendrapara Collector Dasarathi Satpathy.
Situ has saved his uncle from claws of a crocodile in the village pond. He fought with a bamboo stick and dealt a blow on animal’s forehead. The incident took place at the river-side crop field when a crocodile leaped from the water and attacked the survivor. Its a great moment for Odisha that the teenager from Kandira Village of Kendrapara was recognized for his bravery. The award instituted by ICCW will be given to him by the Prime Minister next month.
