On the eve of World Dance Day, for the first time in the history of Indian cinema Odia’s staying in about 25 Countries has acted in a film, Ghungroo Missing?

Internationally acclaimed Odissi Dancer, Choreographer, and now director Saswat Joshi speaking about the short movie says – “In this pandemic situation, nobody is going out, maintaining social distancing and staying at home. While observing this situation I felt like to do something new and connect with Odia ‘s those who are staying abroad. I thought of a concept on my Ghungroo, as-if this one is missing and everyone around the globe people is searching for it, I conceived the concept and started to contact all Odia Staying in abroad, all most 25 countries I connected and made them understand the whole concept, Ghungroo is missing in the basement and everyone is searching the Ghungroo in the same house almost 25 people, keeping in mind that all are at one house, and finally I found it, Dr. Ileana Citaristi who is my teacher she gave me back, it’s absolutely a homemade Documentary, everyone recorded and acted in their part and send us, here in Lasyakala we edited the whole film, Isn’t it Interesting?”

The Idea behind the making of Ghungroo Missing?

1. Ghungroo is a pride of Odissi Dance, which I represented Odissi all over the world, So I am again searching my happy Odisha in their heart.

2. Lost it and found it in the same house means, that’s a symbol of Happiness, we are searching the happiness during this lockdown but all happiness is at home only, the best place in the world is your own home.

3. During this COVID 19 all our Odia brother and sister those are staying in Abroad also important for us, just to give a smile on their face and make them realize we too pray for you, we are one, and in the film, all are worried and overthinking about the Ghungroo, that’s a symbol of care and love of all Odia’s which is an absolute reflection.

4. The whole film is black and white because during this lockdown people might have thought our life became black and white but remember old is Gold and after every black and white situation, there is a colorful life waiting for us. This is the major purpose to make this film happen, just to aware stay home and stay safe, during the whole film nobody has gone out and broke the rule and regulations by Government. Special thanks to all the artist, cast and crew, and my viewers, and GOD.
