A Movie on Sensational murder of Graham Staines and Sons
The Least of These is a film based on the sensational murder of Australian Christian missionary Graham Staines
and his two sons in Odisha on 23 Januray 1999.
PVR Pictures is all set to release The Least of These in India. The film is already released in the US. The film has done a business of over $600,000 in the US. The film features Sharman Joshi, Manoj Mishra, and Stephen Baldwin. The Least of These us slated to release on 29 March.
The film is directed by Aneesh Daniel, the film tells the very sensitive and poignant story of Graham Staines, an Australian Christian missionary who, along with his two young sons, was torched to death by Hindu fundamentalists in 1999 based on rumors that he carried out forced conversions. Staines met the unexpected fate in India while serving the leper population.
As the social fabric of life in rural India disintegrates in the 1990s, journalist Manav Banerjee and his pregnant wife move to the town of Orissa for new opportunities and the promise of a lucrative career. When speculation mounts that local Australian missionary Graham Staines is illegally proselytizing leprosy patients, Manav launches an undercover investigation for his newspaper.
