Mundeshwari Devi Temple is devoted to the love of Lord Shiva and Shakti. The engraving of a data plaque raised by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) at the site demonstrates the dating of the sanctuary to 635 AD. Be that as it may, there are different adaptations for the dating expressing the Saka period, preceding Gupta tradition rule (320 AD) in India, and explicitly to 105 AD as indicated by the Administrator of the Bihar Religious Trust Board.

Nearby legends state that Chanda and Munda who were siblings and clan leaders of incredible evil presence Mahishasura were leaders of the zone. Mahishasura faced unequivocal conflict with Goddess Durga as referenced in DurgaShaptshati. Munda made goddess MundeshwariBhawani sanctuary while his more youthful sibling Chanda made Chandeshwari sanctuary at the head of Madurana slope close Chainpur.

The temple is located on the summit of piwara hill, with a height of about 600 feet. The stone carvings of the Mundeshwari Bhavani sanctuary are of the Gupta period. It is an octagonal sanctuary made of stone. In the Eastern segment of this sanctuary, the great and antiquated symbol of the goddess Mundeshwari is the focal point of the principle fascination. The mother is as Vaarahi, whose vehicle is Mahish. There are four doorways to the sanctuary, in which one has been shut and one half-open. The uniqueness of this temple is in animal (goat) sacrifice. Here the goat is sacrificed but it is not slaughtered. This type of sacrifice is nowhere else.

The legends seem scary but are worshiped widely with all the rituals that are done to perfection.
