Netaji Statue and Kartavya Path Inauguration: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated The Central Vista’s peripheral infrastructure. Now on wards the name of the “Rajpath” has been changed to ‘Kartavya Path” which was decided by the Central Government – which means “The Path of Duty”.
Hon’ble PM also unveiled the statue of the Legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subash Chandra Bose in the heart of New Delhi. This 28 feet tall status is made up of Z Black monolithic granite weighing 65,000 kg or 65 tonnes. Arjun Yogiraj led the team of the sculptors, has made this statue by spending more than 26,000 man-hours. They made this status by using traditional techniques and some modern tools too.
This statue is a tribute to Bose’s great contribution and deed to India’s freedom movement.
History of statue in Canopy – This canopy was constructed in 1936. Earlier King George’s statue was installed in the canopy which was removed in 1968 and is now replaced by Netaji’s statue. Its a great moment for the Nation and people of Odisha are seen showering their happiness on social media as Netaji Subash Chandra Bose was born in Odia Bazar, Cuttack Odisha.
