Cuttack Durga Puja 2025 : Two New Chandi Medhas to Dazzle the Silver City
Cuttack is gearing up to welcome the grand festive season with unmatched enthusiasm. The city’s renowned Puja Committees have already begun work for the much-awaited Durga Puja celebrations. This year, about 160 committees are coming together to showcase their devotion and creativity, making Cuttack once again the epicenter of Odisha’s festive spirit.
Known as the “Silver City of India” and fondly remembered as the city of 52 Bazar, 53 Galli, Cuttack celebrates festivals throughout the year — from Pala, Daskathia, Ram Leela, Asta Prahari and Dola, to Kumarpurnima, Khudurukuni, Ganesh Puja, Baliyatra, and Durga Puja. Each celebration reflects the diversity and vibrancy of Odisha’s cultural identity.
Durga Puja, observed twice a year in Cuttack — Basanti Puja in April-May and Sharadiya Puja in September/October — holds a special place in the hearts of devotees. The October celebrations, in particular, is no less than the grandeur of Kolkata’s Puja, bringing together communities with lights, decorations, music, and the unique tradition of Chandi Medha.

The Chandi Medha, crafted with exquisite silver filigree, is the hallmark of Cuttack’s Durga Puja. These dazzling silver tableaux often depict historical episodes from Sanatan Dharma as well as social and cultural themes. They remain the biggest attraction, drawing thousands of visitors from across Odisha and beyond.
In 2025, the celebration grows even more special with the addition of two new Chandi Medhas, taking the city’s tally to 35. These new creations will further enhance the charm and heritage of Cuttack’s Durga Puja, adding fresh sparkle to a festival already famed for its grandeur.
As the city prepares to welcome Goddess Durga, the streets of Cuttack are set to come alive with devotion, artistry, and celebration, reinforcing its reputation as the cultural capital of Odisha.
