Nandankanan welcomes 4 new born cubs
Nandankanan welcomes 4 new born cubs : Sneha, the white tigress of Nandankan Zoo, Odisha today gave birth to four cubs. As per a leading news daily, the Nandankanan Zoo officials said :
“We are not sure how many of them are white and how many Royal Bengal Tigers (RBT). This will be known after we take a look at the CCTV footage,” the zoo director Sudarsan Panda said, adding, the footage of new tiger cubs will be released in the next 48-hours.
The tiger cubs were born after Sneha mated with a male RBT called Manish, Panda said.
The health condition of the cubs is absolutely normal and their movement is being monitored with the help of CCTV cameras installed inside the off-exhibit enclosure number-30 D where they were born, the zoo director informed.
“Interestingly one of the cubs appears to be a melanistic tiger, a black non-striped tiger, but not a Royal Bengal Tiger, one of the rarest of the rare cases,” Panda said. With the arrival of the four cubs the strength of captive tigers at the zoo has gone up to 27, zoo officials said.
