Abakasa Besa of the Lord of the Universe. The Besas or costumes of Lord Jagannath symbolize various cultural and religious syntheses in the shrine. Every day from early morning to night the deities on the Ratna Singhasan wear different attires made of cotton and silk fabrics, Gold Ornaments studded with precious stones, flowers of different varieties, tulsi leaves, etc. Sandal paste, camphor, and sometimes musks are used in daily and periodical rituals.

-> The Abakasa Besa of Lord Jagannath takes place early in the morning after the Mangala Alati in the Ratnasinghasana.
-> In this Besa, The Lords wear Tadap & Uttariya.
-> The Puspalaka Sevayatas decorates the Lords for the Besa. Mahaprabhu Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra’s brush and bath rituals are done in this Besa.
-> Not only on Ratnasinghasana, but the Besa also takes place on Snana Mandap, Sri Gundicha Temple, and also in the Rath.
