6th Odisha State Book Fair 2024
The 6th Odisha State Book Fair 2024 began on 6 Dec 2024, with Surama Padhy, Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, set to inaugurate the event this evening at the Exhibition Ground in Unit-3, Bhubaneswar. The fair, organized by the Odisha Language, Literature, and Culture Department, will run until December 17.
This sixth edition of the book fair features around 400 stalls, showcasing the works of 200 publishers and booksellers. Three themed pavilions have been created, focusing on the legacies of Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab, Lord Buddha, Bhagwan Birsa Munda, and other freedom fighters.
Notable elements of the fair include the main entrance, named after Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab, the central stage after Satakadi Hota, the inner entrance after poet Harihar Mishra, and an internal platform dedicated to Satyaranjan Bahidar.
A special coffee corner has been set up for readers to interact with their favorite authors, engage in discussions, and enjoy coffee. Additionally, a small auditorium will host key events such as book launches and literary debates, offering publishers a platform to present new books to their audience.
Visitors can also savor a variety of local delicacies at food stalls operated by the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation, Millet Mission, Koraput Coffee, and Mission Shakti.
