Ratha Yatra in Pakistan – Jai Jagannath
Ratha Jatra the Chariot festival of Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Subhadra is not restricted to Odisha.The festival is celebrated in various countries. Infact the annual festival of the God of the Universe has even crossed the ‘Line of Control’ to reach neighbouring country Pakistan.
A video of Ratha Jatra being celebrated in Pakistan is doing the rounds on various social media platforms like Fb, Twitter, Youtube and Whatsapp. The event was organized by Pakistan New Veikunt Dham Bhakt Samaj(Gaudiya Math) amidst tight security.
A large number of people belonging to Hindu community attended the event, where the Trinity in the Mari Mata Temple at Rattan Talao on Akbar Road in Karachi were escorted out in a ‘Palinki’ and later taken in a colourful procession amidst sounds of cymbals and ‘Mridanga’. The devotees were also seen chanting ‘Hari Bol’ and ‘Jai Jagannath’ during the procession.
Tight security arrangements were also made to avoid any untoward incident and maintain law and order situation. The biggest festival of Lord Jagannath, the God of the Universe is being celebrated in Pakistan since 2015. Not only Pakistan, Ratha Yatra is also celebrated in India’s neighbouring countries like Bangladesh & Nepal.
