Sleeping Vishnu
The Sleeping Vishnu was Carved in 9th Century in Saranga village about 30 km from Talcher Town on the right bank of river Brahmani. Anantashayana Vishnu or sleeping on the serpent Shesha, is a large open air rock-out image of Hindu lord Vishnu. It is the largest exposed rock cut structure in the horizontal position measuring 15.4 metres in length in India, while the largest standing one is at Gomateshwara in Southern India. It is a protected monument maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India, Bhubaneswar Circle. Worship is still offered to the four armed reclining Vishnu. The tourist destination is also considered as one of the 7 wonders of Odisha .
