During the month of Asadha the deities are offered a special drink called Adharapana(Adhara means lips) as the drink sweetness the divine lips.Adhar Pana of Lord Jagannath ‘Adhar Pana’.After offering the pot,the pot is broken by Sevayat on Ratha(Chariot).It is only for the God and Goddess who has stayed on chariot on the period Of Rathyatra to guard Lord Jagannath, Subhadra and Balabhadra. As per a ritual, one-meter high nine large open mouth barrel-shaped pitchers full of the drinks were placed before the three deities on the chariots (three each) which touched the lips of the deities. The drinks are popularly called Adharpana.
