During the month of Asadha the deities are offered a special drink called Adharapana(Adhara means lips) as the drink sweetness the divine lips.Adhar Pana of Lord Jagannath ‘Adhar Pana’.After offering the pot, the pot is broken by Sevayat on Ratha(Chariot). It is only for the God and Goddess who has stayed on the chariot during the period Of Rathyatra to guard Lord Jagannath, Subhadra, and Balabhadra.
As per a ritual, one-meter high nine large open mouth barrel-shaped pitchers full of the drinks were placed before the three deities on the chariots (three each) which touched the lips of the deities. The drinks are popularly called Adharpana.

Suna Bhesha of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra & Devi Subhadra is also known as Raja or Rajadhiraja Bhesha or Raja Bhesha. Suna Bhesha is an event when the Lord Jagannath and other deities Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra are adorned with gold jewelry.
Suna Bhesha is observed 5 times during a year. It is commonly observed on Magha Purnima (January), Bahuda Ekadashi also known as Asadha Ekadashi (July), Dashahara (Vijayadashami) (October), Karthik Purnima (November), and Pousa Purnima (December).
